the accordian – my mothers’ family were in a travelling group called the “Orielle Banjelleers”. Two played accordians and the rest played Banjos in the Liverpool area.
As a child we used to go to my great uncle’s house and be entertained by him – singing all the old songs to the accordian
Unfortunately, when he became ill he sold his instruments
I never could afford the instrument or the lessons Eddy G.

i had a few lessons when i was younger for about 3 months on the piano. many years later when i was 33 i took it up again and now can play almost any piece before me.
It is never too late to learn better

originally I wanted to play the oboe , later changed to the choranglais(sp) , still my favourite . My grandmother gave me her violin , which I never did get to play very well ; sadly the woodwinds , never . kitiyapron p

The guitar. I wanted to be able to make an instrument sing, preferably an instrument that wasn’t a natural singer in the first place.

Yes, I did get there in the end. I own three guitars – a 2003 Fender Telecaster, a 1987 Squier Strat (very battered and scuffed because it was my first guitar) and a 2006 Ibanez AF-75 – and I can make them do more or less exactly what I want them to. I’m not a genius, but I can play filth, class, precision, rhythm, blues, swing, total screaming death and also extend chords in a vain attempt to make the accompaniment to Gershwin’s ‘Summertime’ ever so slightly less boring than usual. lexo80

when i was little one of my mum’s friend’s daughters played the flute very well, and i always wanted to play it, it made such a beautiful sound. and now i do play it, i still don’t think i’m great at it, even though people tell me that i am! I’m still learning, am at Grade 5 now! xx HappyChickxx

I always wanted to learn the harp, but they cost more than a piano and there aren’t that many teachers out there. So no, I never got there. Sigh.
Maybe if they really do have them in Heaven… anna

I wanted to play the cello when i was a kid.. AND i did learn how to play it…but my teacher moved away this year,so i sort of have stopped playing it…Now i feel as if there’s a hole in me… lisa

i always wanted to play the guitar or the piano really well… i did once get a couple of guitar lessons from a friend, but gave it up as a bad idea when i realised that my small hands were not exactly designed to be good at that sort of thing. i never got any further than being able to play ‘twinkle twinkle little star’ on the piano….. not exactly rock n’ roll……. lol karen g
