How to plug the piano into the computer so it creates the score?

I bought my sister the casio wk210 – she wanted a keyboard piano, so she could plug it into the computer, and her score would appear while she is playing. That way, if she was playing a song on the piano, instead of handwriting each note on paper, the computer would write it for her. Does anybody know what software I need to get in order to let the computer do this?

you need a midi interface and cables and some “notation” software noteworthy is reasonable, there are no good free ones as far as I know Harley Drive

    Hello. I’m a composer ,

I have a digital piano and I use Sibelius 6 to arrange my music sheet.

If you want the score to appear while playing , you need a MIDI cable (or USB MIDI for newer one). Just install the driver that comes with your casio (if any) to your PC and there you go, you can click Record button and it will write while you play.

However though, I must say that if your sister is an advanced piano player like me, you’d be better off writing it in Sibelius manually than having it to write it automatically. The reason is:

    1. you have to push your notes in ‘perfect’ timing, and if she plays a complex arrangement, any software will produce really ugly sheet.

    2. It is so ugly that no one can play your song by reading it.

    3. You will save much more time creating it from scratch rather than fixing it.

If you just want to compose a melody line for an orchestral piece, you can write while you play since it is so simple that you can time it perfectly :) crsnt
